Based in Atlanta, Bobby Staten + Co. was founded [originally as Appleseed Consulting] in October 2015 following a post-acquisition corporate downsizing. At the time of the layoff, Bobby had built a successful 12-year career in IT, managing and implementing software systems for global supply chain organizations. The success, however, did not equate to fulfillment. He was often frustrated by the politics of large organizations, dead-end projects with deficient teams and feeling like his work lacked true purpose.

Now, fresh out of Corporate America, Bobby struggled with establishing a path forward - primarily because direction had always been provided for him. His 12 year tenure of assimilating to various roles and corporate culture had left Bobby at a crossroads - unclear on what he had to offer and where he could make the most impact. He was passionate about the success of small businesses but had no idea of how to harness this.

During a brief sabbatical, Bobby began a study of the book of Genesis - the first book of the Bible. Genesis tells the story of creation - the heavens, the earth, and all of its inhabitants. The first chapter proved to hold the answers to the questions that he was looking to answer. On the second day, after creating land and sea, God says the following in verses 11 and 12:

“Let the land produce vegetation - seed-bearing plants and trees that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.

The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

It was in these two verses that God made His vision clear to Bobby: Go out and build businesses that honor Me and that will produce others that will do the same.
